2008 Press Releases
U.S. Executives on 6FigureJobs.com Open to Relocating Internationally
6FigureJobs.com survey finds that U.S. job seekers who are open to relocating internationally rises from 7 years ago.
Maitland, FL – December 23, 2008 - Nearly three quarters of executive and senior-level employees in the U.S. indicated they would consider relocating internationally for their next job opportunity in today’s volatile economy. This trend has risen from a 2001 6FigureJobs.com survey in which less than three quarters of executive and senior-level employees said they would consider relocating internationally. The 2008 6FigureJobs.com online survey was conducted in a year when unemployment rates have soared both domestically and abroad.
According to the 6FigureJobs.com survey given to its 600,000+ executive and senior-level members, 50% of respondents indicated they would consider an international relocation depending on the country and 24% responded they would go anywhere for the right opportunity. Given the intensifying instability in the U.S. labor market, executive and senior-level employees show an extreme willingness to accept valuable job opportunities around the world—a staggering 74% of respondents compared to 68% in the 2001 survey.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. employers cut 533,000 jobs in November, the 11th consecutive monthly decline, causing the unemployment rate to jump to 6.7%. With a larger pool of senior-level U.S. job candidates available, many overseas companies are eager to invest in international recruiting during times of high unemployment because they can more easily attract desired talent that may be looking for work.
"I think a fresh start with a new environment and a new set of challenges is difficult but at the same time energizing. I would relocate anywhere that I felt my family and I would be happy and the situation was right for us," responded one 6FigureJobs.com executive member. The top three geographies for overseas relocation among respondents were China, Europe and Dubai.
